Whole-Body Wellness Through Every Stage: Meet Dr. Jorja Paraskevopoulos, ND.

Dr. Jorja Paraskevopoulos, ND

At The Maternal Village, we believe that caring for women and families means looking at the whole person. Hormones, digestion, nutrition, sleep, stress, mental health and reproductive health are deeply interconnected, which is why we are so grateful to have Dr. Jorja Paraskevopoulos, ND, as part of our multidisciplinary team.

Dr. Jorja is a naturopathic doctor with a special interest in hormonal health, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum wellness, metabolic health and gut health. Her approach aligns beautifully with the heart of The Maternal Village: individualized care that looks beyond a single symptom and considers the bigger picture of a person's health.

Jorja earned her Bachelor's degree with honours in Human Kinetics from the University of Windsor before completing her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine designation at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2024. Now she's bringing that training home to Chatham-Kent — right here at 16 Victoria Ave. in Chatham.

Supporting Women Through Every Season

Hormones can influence so much more than our menstrual cycles. Energy, mood, sleep, digestion, fertility, metabolism and overall well-being can all be connected to hormonal health.

Dr. Jorja works with women across different stages of life to better understand what may be contributing to the way they are feeling and to create an individualized plan that supports their overall health.

For those preparing for pregnancy or navigating fertility concerns, naturopathic care can provide another layer of support by considering factors such as nutrition, hormonal health, digestion, lifestyle, stress and overall wellness.

That support doesn't end with a positive pregnancy test.

Throughout pregnancy and postpartum, a woman's nutritional, hormonal, physical and emotional needs continue to change. Having a practitioner who can look at the whole picture can be incredibly valuable during a season when so much attention naturally shifts toward the baby.

Gut Health Is Part of the Bigger Picture

Digestive health is another important area of Dr. Jorja's practice.

Bloating, changes in digestion, food concerns and other gastrointestinal symptoms can affect how someone feels day to day. Rather than viewing these concerns in isolation, Dr. Jorja's whole-body approach considers how digestion may interact with nutrition, hormones, metabolism, energy and overall health.

Supporting Mental and Emotional Wellness

Mental health is also an important part of whole-person care.

Stress, sleep, nutrition, hormonal changes and physical health can all intersect with emotional well-being. Dr. Jorja considers these connections as part of the broader health picture, particularly during fertility, pregnancy and postpartum, when both the body and mind can be navigating significant change.

Naturopathic care is not a replacement for appropriate mental health or medical care, but it can be a valuable part of a collaborative support system.

Care for Babies and Growing Families

One of the reasons naturopathic medicine is such a valuable addition to The Maternal Village is that care can extend beyond the mother.

Families can also seek naturopathic support for their babies and children, allowing parents to explore concerns such as nutrition, digestion and overall wellness through an individualized, age-appropriate approach.

This creates continuity of care that fits beautifully with our vision for the Village: supporting families from preconception and pregnancy through postpartum, infancy and beyond.

Why Naturopathic Medicine Belongs at The Maternal Village

The Maternal Village was created because women's health is rarely one-dimensional.

A mother may walk through our doors looking for support with fertility and discover she also needs help navigating nutrition and stress. A postpartum mother may be struggling with her energy, digestion, mood and hormonal changes all at once. A parent may come looking for support for their baby while realizing that their own health deserves attention too.

Having Dr. Jorja within the Village allows us to offer another important piece of that puzzle.

Her philosophy of caring for mind, body and spirit, combined with an evidence-informed and individualized approach, complements our collaborative model of care and our belief that families deserve to feel heard, supported and cared for as whole people.

Because at The Maternal Village, our goal has never been to support just one part of motherhood.

We're here to support the whole journey.

Naturopathic medicine appointments with Dr. Jorja are now bookable online.
